Dental Crowns in Austin & Pflugerville, TX

Dental crowns or caps are wonderful solutions to those patients that may suffer from a plethora of unsightly dental problems. The crown itself is a covering that encases the surface of the tooth, restoring it to a more natural-looking shape and size. Crowns also serve as protectants and strengtheners to tooth structure that would otherwise be restored with fillings and other types of restoration procedures.

There are several types of crowns that can be chosen for your specific set of needs and circumstances. The following are the different kinds of materials available on the market:

  • Porcelain
  • Metal alloys
  • Gold

At Peak Dental were more than happy to have an extensive conversation and consultation with you about the type of dental crown that would be perfect for you.

Before You Go for Crowns in Austin & Pflugerville, TX Understand the Process

The first appointment involves taking several highly accurate molds or impressions used to make your custom crown. A mold will also be used to create a temporary crown while the custom one is being made. The tooth is then numbed and prepared by removing any decay and reshaping the surface to fit the crown properly. Soon after the temporary crown is placed with temporary cement, your bite will be checked to make sure there are no problems.

By the second appointment, the temporary crown is removed, the tooth is thoroughly cleaned, and your new crown is delicately placed into your mouth ensuring the spacing and bite is accurate.
